What is Journey?
Journey is our program designed to help children and families at Genesis make the choice to put their faith in God and to let Him show them His path and how to live out His desires for their own life journey.
In the book of Jeremiah, God says, "For I know the plans I have for you... plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future."
What is our staff’s role in Journey?
- We see ourselves as being partners with parents and families with our common end goal of seeing each child we encounter, choose a lasting relationship with their Heavenly Father.
- We want to walk beside you as parents/guardians, assisting you who are the primary faith nurturers of your children, in whatever way we can.
How is Journey set-up for kids at our Sunday morning worship gatherings?
- Kids (6th grade and under) are separated into classrooms based on age: nursery (23 months and under), 2’s and 3’s, a 4-K class, 1st - 2nd grade, 3rd - 4th grade and 5th - 6th grade classes.
- We are currently using Group’s Faith Weaver Curriculum with the goal of making faith an everyday conversation. Our desire is that the Sunday School lessons become life lessons that are lived out all week long.
- Along with the Godly disciplines they learn in class and the knowledge they gain, kids are also building lasting relationships with their peers as well as adult mentors who can walk beside them as they learn to live out their faith.
What goes on for our kids in Journey at other times ?
- Periodically throughout each month, we have something called a Pit-Stop. This is a mid-week connection event for 1st-6th graders that enables them to continue building those relationships with their peers. Besides that, it is a place where lots of crazy fun happens!
