Hey Genesis,
How's your week? Are you getting the "joy" out of your life and into the open? I'm praying for you this week (and for me) that we will be hugely aware of the opportunities we have to express the joy that is in us through Christ…to get it OUT. To let those who God has brought into our lives experience Jesus through the joy that is in us and getting out of us. I also hope you are experiencing the Upper Room, Outer Room, Gathering Room, and Living Room that Acts 2 has shown us.

Baptism

Changed: The Acts of The Apostles
I hope you are enjoying our study in the book of Acts. But more than that, I hope you are experiencing change in your own life and that you are reflecting daily on how your own life is being impacted by the words you are studying. I want to encourage you to begin to study and read Acts 3 for this Sunday's message.
The Rock at 32nd Street Strategic Opportunities
We are getting closer and closer to opening The Rock at 32nd Street and it's time to begin our transition from a setup/teardown operation, to a 24/7 facility that is our own. There are a lot of exciting things happening and a lot of opportunities for Genesis folks to shine and step in to this new phase of our life together. This Sunday, we will have a segment in our worship gathering where we will talk about these strategic opportunities and how you can be involved.
Homeless Ministry
Come and join us as we poor out our love and compassion to our homeless friends. We will meet THIS Saturday, February 4th, 9:00am, at John and Stephanie Carmody's home (2110 E. Parkside Lane, Phoenix 85024). After loading up the vehicles we will caravan downtown and should be back by 11:30am. If you have never done this, it is a very rewarding experience. Come on along! Administrative Lead Position
We are excited to inform you that Amy Johnson has accepted the position of fulltime Administrative Lead at Genesis. She will be working closely with our current and long time Admin Lead, Kristen Shores, over the next 2 weeks to transition into the position. Be praying for both Kristen and Amy as the transition begins.
Prayer
I really want to encourage you to be regular in your prayer time this week. It has become so clear to me that our prayers are powerful and effective, and all the more so when God unites us together as a giant prayer army. Here are some key concerns to lift up this week:
•Praise God for all of the amazing gifts, resources, and people He has given to Genesis in the last several months.
•Praise God for the healing He is bringing to relationships, marriages, families, hearts, and bodies.
•Pray for our Genesis folks to be spending solid time in the Upper, Outer, Gathering and Living Rooms.
•Pray for God to raise up more leaders to lead our Life Groups.
•Pray for God to provide all of the necessary resources to complete The Rock at 32nd Street.
•Pray for God to raise up and lead us to the right person to direct our community center.
•Pray for God to move in us to become a colossal invitational bunch of Christ-followers, gathering more and more people as we ready ourselves to occupy our mission outpost.

PARENTS of Genesis KIDS
Baptism
On February 26th, we will be baptizing two elementary kids. If your child would like to be baptized that day, please contact me before February 12th so we can make all the arrangements for the celebration.
This Sunday
Please remind your kids to bring their Bible, their quarter offering, their completed Take-Home Page, and a friend! Then, after service, do me a favor and ask your child, “What did you learn about God today?” If they have an answer, email me…I would love to hear their feedback.
Genesis Kids Worship Team
We are ready to start developing worship teams to serve every other Sunday and some to serve by leading worship in the 2s – 3s and 4s – K class. We also discussed making a tie-dyed t-shirt for our worship team when they are serving. Please watch your email for more information on our Tie-Dye Party and a serving calendar. If you are an expert tie-dyer, please contact me. If your child would like to be involved, we will have Kids’ Worship practice every Sunday from 9:15 – 9:50am in Room 657 and then lead during kids’ service.
I Saw the Lord This Week...
Oh my goodness! I had the pleasure of serving in the 2s – 3s class this past Sunday and it was wonderful. Three precious little girls read many books with me and then we marched around the room with our musical instruments singing different versions of “Jesus Loves Me”. The best moment was when one little girl shouted, “Yeah, Jesus!” with her hands over her head shaking her maracas. Oh, if only we could keep that enthusiasm every day! Thanks for the reminder, Taylor!
No Rev this Sunday due to the Patriots and Giants...I guess they think the Super Bowl is a big deal or something. We will have Rev on Sunday the 12th as usual and we're starting a new series on Missions, so don't miss that!! You Guys Rock!

It’s Moving Time Again
Rick Corpron is moving into a new apartment on Saturday, February 11th, and we’ll start at 9:00am. The Men’s Ministry is organizing a moving crew, so if you would like to help (especially pickup truck owners), we would love the assistance. Weekly Friday Morning Men's Gathering
Come join other Genesis men who gather every Friday morning at the Paradise Valley Mall Food Court from 6:15 – 7:00am. Genesis Church has just begun studying the book of Acts and on Friday mornings we will be digging deeper into weekly sermons by using the Sunday morning outline as a guide. Bring your questions and join us for this 6-week event ending Friday, February 24th. For Friday, February 3rd, we will discuss the sermon that was delivered on Sunday, January 29th.
Monday Evening Men's Group

Weekly Men's Prayer
Live with joy. It may weird people out, but it’s there and they’ll notice a difference. Better to live with joy and be weird than live ‘like all the other hypocritical Christians’. Let’s face it, the first step is to be in prayer, thanking and showing God gratitude for all the many blessings. He loves us. He is here for us. We are blessed.

Mark Your Calendars Now
I know that it is early, but mark the weekend of April 20th – 22nd on your calendar as “out of town”. This is the weekend for the annual “MAN CAMP” up in Williams, Arizona at the Young Life Camp. Biking Event
If you would like to participate in a biking event, now is the time to start thinking about it. Tentative dates are Saturday morning, February 18; Sunday after church, February 26th; or Saturday morning, March 3rd. Hollon Kinney has indicated that he would help coordinate an outing and has suggested taking the Pemberton Trail in McDowell Mountain Park. Raising a Modern Day Knight
The Men’s Ministry would like to sponsor a “Raising a Modern Day Knight” class again. If you would like to volunteer to help lead a session, please contact Scott Borchert at men@genesis-church.com or 602-228-2747.
Women’s Ministry Leader
We are currently searching for a volunteer to lead our Women’s Ministry. If you are interested or would like to know more about it, please contact Christine Kettelkamp at ckettelkamp@cox.net for more information. Until we are able to fill this position, our Women’s Ministry program will be on a temporary hold.
Fight Like a Girl
Paradise Valley School of Karate is offering a ‘Fight Like a Girl’ class on Sunday, February 19th, from 1:00 – 4:00pm. They are located right next door to the Genesis office at 13647 N. 32nd Street, Phoenix 85032. The class will give you skills to defend yourself and the confidence to use them. There are no difficult karate moves and the class is hands on so you get to try the moves and see how well they work. The cost of the class is $40 per person ($5 off if you bring a friend). Please register ahead of time to reserve a spot by calling 602-867-9204. More details can be found on the attached flyer.
I was reflecting this week on how God has brought us through so much. Every speed bump we have hit, every difficulty that has come our way, every dead end we have approached, God has been faithful. He has shown himself to us in amazing ways and has asked us to trust Him through it all. What an incredible time to be a part of the Genesis community, as we move in to the vision of serving the community through the tool of our building and all that we will provide in it.
